easyJet to offer Starlink internet across its Airbus fleet from 2027

easyJet will offer Starlink satellite internet across its Airbus fleet from 2027, the airline said on Monday, bringing onboard Wi-Fi to its passengers for the first time.

Starlink will be deployed across the airline’s A320, A320neo and A321neo aircraft in the first half of 2027, with the rollout expected to be completed by early 2028, Reuters reported. Passengers will be able to stream, game and browse on their own devices as they would on the ground, and to check flight status and destination information and order from the inflight menu from their seats.

easyJet chief executive Kenton Jarvis said staying connected mattered more than ever to customers, adding: “Partnering with SpaceX to bring Starlink’s high-speed internet connectivity onboard for the first time will not only further enhance the experience we provide millions of customers, but means we are offering more of the options both business and leisure travellers want when they choose who they fly with.”

The airline did not disclose the terms of its deal with SpaceX, Reuters reported. Jarvis had noted in January, when a potential partnership was discussed, that the economics of providing onboard Wi-Fi were challenging.

easyJet is the latest budget carrier to adopt the service: rival Wizz Air announced a similar tie-up in June, while Ryanair has flagged costs of up to $250 million a year with using Starlink. American, Southwest, United, Alaska and British Airways already provide Starlink on board, Reuters reported.
