About
About Flip News
Flip News is an independent news site covering rural broadband and internet infrastructure in the United States — who is getting connected, with what money, and when.
What we cover
State grant awards, county fibre buildouts, FCC and federal rural-broadband actions, satellite internet, fixed wireless and 5G home service, municipal and co-op broadband projects, and practical guides for people waiting on better internet. We also follow the UK’s Project Gigabit as a secondary beat.
Who we are — and where we work
Flip News is a small, remote editorial team covering one beat: who’s getting connected, where, and when. Our correspondents follow US broadband policy, network buildouts, satellite and wireless, and the UK gigabit rollout desk-side from primary sources: agency press releases (FCC, NTIA, state broadband offices), governor newsrooms, company announcements, and public data — rewritten in our own words, clearly attributed, and linked back to the original source. We state this plainly because you deserve to know how your news is made.
Our team
- John Alon — Founder & Editor. Sets the editorial direction and writes our weekly roundups.
- Sarah Whitfield — Senior Correspondent, US broadband policy & grant programmes.
- James Calloway — Infrastructure Reporter, network buildouts & deployment.
- Priya Raman — Technology Correspondent, satellite & wireless.
- Tom Ellery — UK Correspondent, the gigabit rollout across Britain.
Our editorial standards
- Original wording, always. We summarise and attribute; we never copy other publishers’ articles.
- Primary sources first. Every article names its source and links directly to it, so claims trace back to the agency, company, or document that made them.
- Corrections are public. If we get something wrong, we fix it and note the correction on the article. Email corrections@flipnews.co.uk to report an error. See our corrections policy.
- No pay-to-play. Coverage is never sold. Affiliate links in guides are disclosed — see our affiliate disclosure.
