Privacy Policy

We are a small, independent news website. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit, and what we do with it. We keep it simple on purpose: we collect as little as possible.

What we collect

Analytics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand which stories readers find useful. It is privacy-friendly by design: it does not use cookies, does not track you across sites, and does not collect personal data such as your name or email address. It records aggregate, anonymized information such as pages visited and approximate location derived from your IP address.

Contact emails. If you email us — for example, to report an error, request a correction, or send a news tip — we receive your email address and whatever you include in the message. We use it only to respond to you.

Advertising. We plan to display ads through Google AdSense. Google may use cookies or similar technologies to serve and measure ads, and to personalize them based on your interests. Google’s use of this data is governed by Google’s own privacy policy, not ours. You can control ad personalization in your Google account settings.

What we do not do

  • We do not set our own tracking cookies at launch.
  • We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing.
  • We do not run user accounts or comments, so we hold no passwords or subscriber lists. (Our email-updates signup is a mailto link: your email address only reaches us if you send it yourself — see “Email updates” below.)

Data retention

Emails you send us are kept only as long as needed to handle your request. Aggregated analytics data is retained by our analytics provider according to its own retention settings.

Your rights

If you are in the UK or EU, you have rights under data-protection law, including the right to ask what personal data we hold about you and to request its deletion. To exercise these rights, or for any privacy question, email us at contact@flipnews.co.uk and we will respond within a reasonable time.

Children

This site is a general news publication not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

If this policy changes — for example, if we add user accounts or comments — we will update this page and the “last updated” date above. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy.

If you subscribe via the signup form on this site, we send the address you type to contact@flipnews.co.uk through your own email app; it is then stored in our inbox and used only to send Flip News updates. We never sell or share your address with anyone. To unsubscribe at any time, simply reply to one of our updates with "unsubscribe" and we will remove you.
