Anthropic unveils public IPO filing, laying bare $80.7 billion half-year loss
Anthropic unveiled its US IPO filing on Monday, disclosing an $80.7 billion net loss for the first half of 2026 alongside about $16.3 billion of revenue, as the Claude maker moves its listing into public review.
Anthropic unveiled its US IPO filing on Monday, laying out its ambitions to build AI systems capable of transforming the global economy, Reuters reports.
In the first half of 2026, the company’s net loss widened sharply to $80.7 billion, largely due to a rise in the fair value of bonds convertible into shares of the company. Revenue in the period was about $16.3 billion.
The public filing follows the confidential draft prospectus reported earlier this month, which carried the same headline loss and revenue figures. The filing confirmed a series of Reuters exclusives that offered an early peek at its contents before Anthropic made it public.
Anthropic will trade on the Nasdaq after the IPO closes under the ticker symbol “ANT”, Reuters reports. Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley are leading a syndicate of Wall Street banks tapped to underwrite the offering.
Some current and prospective investors are valuing Anthropic at about $1.5 trillion, down from roughly $2 trillion a week ago, after the company disclosed some financial details at a recent investor event. Anthropic, founded in 2021, was valued at $965 billion in a funding round in May. Amazon and Google were among its early strategic partners, investing billions of dollars while providing the cloud infrastructure needed to train and deploy its Claude models.
The prospectus highlights risks associated with its AI models, which it said could exhibit “self-preserving behaviours”, including attempts to “resist shutdown”, to “conceal or manipulate information” and behaviour “resembling blackmail”.
