Former Marronnier singer Kim Jeong-eun ends marriage after 20 years
Singer Kim Jeong-eun, formerly of 1990s project group Marronnier, has ended her marriage of about 20 years by mutual agreement and retains custody of her son, her agency Fruit Farm Records announced.
South Korean singer Kim Jeong-eun, formerly of the 1990s project group Marronnier, has ended her marriage of about 20 years by mutual agreement, her agency Fruit Farm Records announced on Wednesday.
“After careful consideration due to differences in personality, Kim Jeong-eun recently ended her approximately 20-year marriage through a divorce by mutual agreement, following the court-mandated cooling-off period,” the agency said in a statement.
The agency said Kim will retain custody of the couple’s son and that the two had “decided to remain on good terms through an amicable agreement”. It asked the public to refrain from malicious comments and speculative reporting, saying it could not confirm further details as they concerned the singer’s private life.
Kim married fellow musician Choi, two years her senior, in 2004, and the couple’s son was born in 2011. She debuted in 1994 as a guest vocalist on Marronnier’s third album, whose “Cocktail Love” became a hit, and scored solo hits the following year with “Proposal” and “I Love You”.
After a long hiatus caused in part by vocal cord nodules, Kim recently returned to public view on KBS1’s Back to the Music, and plans a full-fledged comeback at the end of the year, with a self-penned new song, “Mom Was Pretty” (“My Mom Was Beautiful”), scheduled for release in November.
