Chris Pratt confirms Star-Lord will return to the MCU: 'he's not going anywhere'
Chris Pratt has confirmed he will return as Peter Quill/Star-Lord in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, saying 'hard action' has been taken to make good on the promise made in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3's end credits — though he is 'not at liberty to say' which project.
Chris Pratt has confirmed he will return as Peter Quill — Star-Lord — in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Speaking on the latest episode of The Playlist’s Bingeworthy podcast, the 47-year-old said he has “a great relationship” with Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige and executive producer Louis D’Esposito, and that “there have been both ongoing conversations about how we make good on that promise and also hard action taken to make sure that we make good on that promise,” Entertainment Weekly reported.
“So yeah, you’ll see Star-Lord again, which is very exciting, but I’m not at liberty to say when that’s going to be, but he’s not going anywhere,” Pratt added.
The confirmation makes good on the post-credits teaser that closed 2023’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 — “the legendary Star-Lord will return.” Pratt first played the ‘80s-music-loving half-human, half-alien hero in 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy, which grossed nearly $800 million worldwide, then returned for the 2017 and 2023 sequels — which added nearly another $2 billion — plus 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War, 2019’s Avengers: Endgame and 2022’s Thor: Love and Thunder.
Pratt’s name was not among the announced cast of Avengers: Doomsday, which reaches cinemas on 18 December — but as Marvel fans know, that says nothing about a surprise appearance. Earlier this year he told the Happy Sad Confused podcast he had already pitched Marvel his own idea for Peter Quill’s return: “I personally have a really strong vision of what I would want him to do… I’m down to contribute any way I can.”
