Sheetal Devi equals world record, sets new mixed-team mark at Asian Para Games
Indian para-archer Sheetal Devi equalled the women's compound world record with 704/720 and set a new mixed-team world record of 1,402 with Toman Kumar at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Para Games.
Indian para-archer Sheetal Devi produced a record-breaking day at the Asian Para Games in Aichi-Nagoya on Monday, equalling the individual women’s compound world record and setting a new mixed-team world record.
Devi scored 704 out of a possible 720 points in the women’s compound ranking round at the Okazaki Chuo Sogo Park Multipurpose Square, matching the world record she jointly holds with Turkey’s Öznur Cüre Girdi. She shot 352 points in each half, registering 32 Xs and 25 10s to finish first in qualification, and also bettered her own Asian record of 698 — set in Bangkok in March this year — by six points. The score also set a new Asian Para Games record, surpassing her 680 from Hangzhou 2023.
She was not done. Alongside Toman Kumar, who shot 698 to finish third in the men’s ranking round, Devi combined for 1,402 points — a new para compound mixed-team world record, beating the 1,400 mark she and Rakesh Kumar set at the World Para Archery Series in Ahmedabad in September 2026. The pair enter the mixed-team event as top seeds and gold-medal favourites.
Devi also topped the women’s doubles qualification with Payal Nag, who scored 675 to finish joint fifth; their combined 1,379 secured the top doubles seeding.
