Lazio sink Juventus 3-0 in Turin to join Inter at top of Serie A
Lazio's Danish duo of Oliver Provstgaard and Gustav Isaksen fired Gennaro Gattuso's side to a 3-0 win at Juventus, moving level with Inter Milan at the top of Serie A.
TURIN — Lazio moved level with Inter Milan at the top of Serie A on Sunday night, as Oliver Provstgaard, Gustav Isaksen and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru fired Gennaro Gattuso’s side to a commanding 3-0 win over Juventus at the Allianz Stadium.
Provstgaard broke the deadlock in the 37th minute, glancing home Mattia Zaccagni’s cross after Lazio worked a short corner on the left. Isaksen doubled the lead in the 66th, collecting a pass from Nuno Tavares on the right, cutting inside and bending a low finish into the far corner.
Substitute Dele-Bashiru completed the scoring in the 89th minute, launching a counter-attack from inside his own half and driving into the box before slotting home as frustrated home supporters jeered Juventus through to the final whistle.
The victory lifted Lazio to 19 points from seven matches, level with Inter, who maintained their unbeaten start with a 3-1 comeback victory at Bologna on Saturday. It was Lazio’s first league win at Juventus since 2017.
Elsewhere on Sunday, AC Milan survived a late Atalanta fightback to claim a 3-2 home victory. Goncalo Ramos opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 24th minute, Adrien Rabiot doubled the lead before the break and Mario Gila made it 3-0 in the 57th. Gianluca Gaetano and Nikola Krstovic pulled goals back for Atalanta in the 66th and 81st minutes, but Milan held on.
