Axel Rudakubana is due at the Old Bailey on Monday at 2pm for a plea and trial preparation hearing over alleged attacks on prison officers, Radio NewsHub reports.
The 20-year-old, appearing by videolink before Judge Mark Lucraft KC, is charged with attempting to cause grievous bodily harm after allegedly throwing boiling water mixed with sugar at a prison officer through his cell-door hatch at HMP Belmarsh on 8 May 2025, Reuters reported.
He is also charged with two counts of assaulting an emergency worker — on 6 May 2025, allegedly threatening to “soak” a female officer before throwing an unknown liquid at her, and on 28 October 2025, allegedly punching a male officer, The Times reported.
He is further charged with possession of an offensive weapon in prison on 26 June 2025, after sharpened stone shards said to have been prised from his cell floor were found under a shelving unit. He was charged on 28 July 2026 and the case was sent to the Old Bailey, Radio NewsHub reports.
At Westminster magistrates’ court, the prosecution said “prompt medical attention prevented lasting injury”; he was not asked to enter pleas, The Times reported.
Rudakubana is serving life with a 52-year minimum term for the murders of Alice da Silva Aguiar, nine, Bebe King, six, and Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, and the attempted murder of eight children and two adults at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in Southport on 29 July 2024. He was transferred to Broadmoor hospital on 23 July.
