Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defence said on Saturday it intercepted two ballistic missiles launched by Yemen’s Houthi militia towards the Mecca and Medina regions, with debris falling in several locations across western Saudi Arabia, Reuters reported (https://www.jpost.com/middle-east/article-912716).

Parts of the intercepted missiles fell in Wadi al-Mughammas in Mecca, while further debris landed in the al-Nuzha neighbourhood of Jeddah, Wadi Jalil in Taif and Masturah in Rabigh governorate, according to the Civil Defence spokesperson, as reported by Arab News (https://www.arabnews.com/saudi-arabia/debris-falls-in-makkah-jeddah-taif-after-interception-of-houthi-missiles-3008090) and Al Arabiya (https://english.alarabiya.net/News/saudi-arabia/2026/10/24/debris-from-two-intercepted-houthi-ballistic-missiles-falls-in-mecca). Authorities carried out the established procedures for such incidents, and the statement reported no casualties or further details of damage.

Mecca and Medina are Islam’s two holiest cities, NDTV noted (https://www.ndtv.com/world-news/saudi-says-shrapnel-fell-in-mecca-medina-after-houthi-attack-12231192?pfrom=home-ndtv_topscroll). The interceptions came hours after the Civil Defence had briefly warned of potential danger in four western areas, including Mecca, before lifting the alerts, and on the same day the Houthis claimed attacks on Saudi oil facilities and airports — developments already covered by Flip News.
