Tottenham Hotspur beat Chelsea 2-0 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday in the Premier League, settling a rain-soaked London derby with two late goals.

Chelsea goalkeeper Mike Penders, a debutant standing in for the injured Emi Martinez, put through his own net in the 77th minute, misjudging a punch from a corner under pressure from Jan Paul van Hecke and deflecting the ball into his own goal.

Three minutes later Chelsea were reduced to ten men when Cole Palmer was shown a second yellow card for a late challenge on Conor Gallagher. It was Chelsea’s first red card of the season.

Mathys Tel sealed the win in the 87th minute to make it 2-0 to Spurs, who had earlier lost James Maddison to injury in the 49th minute, with Gallagher replacing him four minutes later.

The match, played in heavy rain as Storm Boelo rolled into the UK, was the eighth round of the Premier League season.
