Houthi ballistic missile targets Aden airport in third strike in two weeks
A ballistic missile launched by the Houthi militia struck the runway at Aden International Airport on Wednesday, Al-Arabiya reports — the third attack on the airport in two weeks.
A ballistic missile launched by the Houthi militia targeted Aden International Airport in Yemen on Wednesday, according to Al-Arabiya News Channel.
An explosion was heard in Aden and smoke was seen billowing from the airport after the missile struck the runway, the channel’s correspondent said, in a report published by Arab News on Wednesday morning.
Earlier on Wednesday, an explosion and smoke were reported near the airport by a police official and an AFP journalist, according to Al Bawaba, which said at the time that there was still no official information or statement on the cause of the blast.
The strike is at least the third attack on the airport in two weeks. On 7 October, the Houthis hit the facility with missiles and drones, forcing a Cairo-bound flight to divert to Jeddah (our coverage). On 16 October, two missiles landed on the airport grounds as a Yemenia Airways flight to Cairo was preparing for take-off; the Aden security department called it the second attack on the facility in less than a week (our coverage; Reuters).
Neither Wednesday report mentioned casualties.
