NCCIA arrests prime suspect in Rs35bn fake US postage stamp fraud
Pakistan's cybercrime agency has arrested Faheem Akram, the alleged operator of LabelsBank.com, over the sale of more than five million counterfeit US postage stamps worth an estimated Rs35 billion; the case follows a US federal indictment alleging more than $126 million in losses to the US Postal Service.
Pakistan’s National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has arrested Faheem Akram, 33, from Khanewal in Punjab, as the prime suspect in an alleged Rs35 billion fraud involving the online sale of counterfeit United States postage stamps.
NCCIA Lahore Zone Additional Director Atif Ameer announced the arrest at a press conference in Lahore on Tuesday, saying Akram had allegedly operated the website LabelsBank.com from August 2023 to September 2026. More than five million counterfeit US postage stamps were allegedly sold through the site at about $2 each, with total transactions estimated at approximately Rs35 billion (about $126.8 million).
Investigators say 16 bank accounts were allegedly used in the operation: seven belonging to the suspect, five to his brother, two to his wife, and one each to his sister and maternal aunt. A case has been registered under FIR No. 246/2026.
The arrest followed a 10-day tracking operation. Eight special teams across Punjab, Islamabad and Sindh raided 35 locations and questioned 47 people, while investigators analysed 122 call-data records, 50 IMEI-tracking reports and recordings from 120 cameras.
The case follows a US federal grand-jury indictment announced on 28 September, in which the US Department of Justice said Akram had been charged over an unauthorised website that allegedly caused more than $126 million in losses to the US Postal Service. US authorities had reportedly offered a $100,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.
