Natasha Lyonne has sparked a backlash among her own fans after a pair of social media posts on Oct 20 appeared to express support for Donald Trump, according to USA Today and OK Magazine.

The Poker Face star, 47, first quote-replied on X to a clip of Vice President JD Vance at a Republican campaign rally in Hendersonville, North Carolina, held on Oct 19, writing: “Sketchy mofo - prefer trump.” During the rally, a man was escorted away after shouting about the Jeffrey Epstein files, and Vance answered with a quip about illegal border crossings. Lyonne added that Vance’s remarks were “even scarier” and referenced author Octavia Butler as “a soothsayer.”

When a follower asked her to clarify what she meant by “prefer trump”, she replied: “To insert Manchurian Candidate here?”

She then quote-replied to a post from Trump thanking Elon Musk for donating SpaceX stock to millions of American children through the TRUMP ACCOUNTS initiative, responding with four emojis: a rocket, a saluting face, sunshine and sunglasses.

The posts drew swift criticism, with one fan writing “oh no mama, delete this” and another “say you got hacked,” USA Today reported. Others questioned whether the posts were sarcastic, with one follower urging: “She’s not MAGA. This has to be sarcasm. Pls clarify, Queen.”

USA Today has reached out to Lyonne’s representatives for comment.
