Former Disney child star Erik von Detten, 44, has been sued for alleged elder abuse and fraud over a retired couple’s gold investments, TMZ reported on Tuesday.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, 85-year-old Sheila Greenberg and 97-year-old Norman Greenberg filed the lawsuit against the actor — known as Josh Bryant in The Princess Diaries and the voice of Sid in Toy Story — and Rosland Capital, the precious-metals firm he joined in 2018 after stepping back from acting.

The couple allege they contacted Rosland in 2020 after seeing a television advert, were connected with von Detten, and bought around $1 million worth of Lady Liberty gold coins — which were sent to a warehouse for storage rather than delivered to them — followed by a second purchase of roughly $1 million more. They claim the coins they paid about $2.1 million for were worth only around $1.3 million, and are seeking $900,000 in damages plus punitive damages.

Rosland Capital, which the suit claims targeted seniors’ financial fears, filed for bankruptcy months after the case was filed, declaring about $64 million in liabilities against roughly $500,000 in assets. Bankruptcy filings cite scrutiny from the New York Attorney General’s office and the SEC, and the creditors’ committee is seeking to subpoena von Detten.

Von Detten has not publicly responded to the allegations. Page Six, Parade, TV Insider and WDW News Today have all corroborated TMZ’s reporting, which frames every claim as an allegation from the lawsuit, not a proven fact.
