MTN Uganda has launched MTN Starlink for Business, pairing Starlink’s low-Earth-orbit satellite technology with MTN’s local deployment, account management and customer support. It targets businesses and institutions in remote, underserved and hard-to-reach locations where mobile or fibre networks are limited, expensive or impractical. MTN Uganda is an authorised reseller of Starlink products. The launch was demonstrated at Libra International School in Zirobwe, a school that had long struggled with unreliable and costly connectivity; earlier signal-booster attempts had failed despite significant investment. Director Sekabembe William said: “We tried different solutions, including boosters, but they were not efficient enough for our needs. The interventions were also expensive.” Since the proof of concept began, he said, students research more easily, parent communication is “just at the click of a button”, and examination and management systems run more efficiently; he described the speed as “fantastic” and the reliability as “top of the range”. Sylvia Mulinge, CEO of MTN Uganda, said: “Through our partnership with Starlink, we are combining Low-Earth-Orbit satellite technology with MTN’s local implementation, account management and customer support to serve enterprises in remote, underserved and hard-to-reach areas.” (https://techjaja.com/mtn-uganda-launches-starlink-for-business-bringing-satellite-connectivity-to-remote-areas/)

Mulinge stressed the service is designed to complement rather than replace MTN’s existing mobile, fibre and managed network offerings — it can be used as a primary link, a backup or a rapid-deployment option. Target sectors include healthcare, tourism, agriculture, mining, energy, construction and humanitarian operations, under MTN Uganda’s Ambition 2030 strategy of leading digital solutions for Africa’s progress.
