Brewers rally from four runs down to beat Rays 5-4 and take 2-0 World Series lead
The Milwaukee Brewers rallied from a four-run deficit to beat the Tampa Bay Rays 5-4 in Game 2 of the World Series at American Family Field, taking a 2-0 series lead into Monday's Game 3 in St. Petersburg.
The Milwaukee Brewers rallied from a four-run deficit to beat the Tampa Bay Rays 5-4 in Game 2 of the World Series on Saturday night at American Family Field, taking a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series (Fox Sports; Fox 13).
Tampa Bay scored four runs in the top of the first inning, but Milwaukee answered with two in the bottom half and added single runs in the fourth, sixth and seventh innings to complete the comeback, according to the box score (Sportradar box score). Aaron Ashby recorded the final five outs to seal the win, Fox Sports reported.
The victory follows Milwaukee’s 3-2 win in Friday’s opener, when the Brewers survived a ninth-inning scare after a video review overturned what had looked like a game-ending double play.
The series now moves to St. Petersburg for Game 3 on Monday night, October 26, at Tropicana Field, with first pitch scheduled for 8 p.m., Fox 13 reported. The Brewers are two wins away from the first World Series title in franchise history; the Rays, in their third World Series, have also never won the championship (Fox 13).
