Foster beats Navarrete on points to unify three super-featherweight titles

O'Shaquie Foster beat Emanuel Navarrete by unanimous decision in San Antonio, dropping him twice in the final round to unify the IBF, WBO and WBC super-featherweight titles.

O’Shaquie Foster is the unified super-featherweight champion after beating Emanuel Navarrete by unanimous decision at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio on Saturday night.

The judges scored the 12-round unification bout 115-111, 118-108 and 118-108 for Foster, who took Navarrete’s IBF and WBO titles to add to his own WBC belt.

Foster sealed the win in the final round, dropping Navarrete twice. Bad Left Hook’s round-by-round blog records Navarrete going down during an exchange and then going down again to a counter right, with Foster taking the round 10-7 on its card.

Navarrete, who had held two of the three belts, could not find a way through Foster’s movement and counters for most of the fight. Foster boxed behind his jab, landed clean counters at close range and pulled away through the middle and championship rounds.

On the undercard, Albert Gonzalez stopped Edward Vazquez by knockout in round two, Frank Martin stopped Tarik Zaina by technical knockout in round seven, and Deric Davis beat Joaquin Faccio by unanimous decision, 80-72 on all three cards.
