Florida State confirmed on Sunday that star running back Ousmane Kromah will miss the rest of the 2026 season after sustaining a lower-leg injury in Saturday night’s 43-35 overtime loss to Miami at Hard Rock Stadium, FSU Wire reported.

“In last night’s game, Ousmane Kromah sustained a lower leg injury,” the school said in an official statement. “He remained in Miami overnight for surgery and returned to Tallahassee this afternoon. We expect a full recovery, but Ousmane will miss the rest of the 2026 season.” CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz first reported the injury as foot/ankle.

Kromah was hurt in the second quarter after breaking several tackles to reach Miami’s two-yard line, getting twisted up as he was tackled. Unable to put weight on his left leg, he had an air cast applied before being carted off the field, per FSU Wire. Head coach Mike Norvell said after the game: “He’s such a competitor. And he’s tough,” according to 247Sports.

It ends a breakout season for the sophomore, whose 609 rushing yards rank third in the ACC, with five touchdowns at 5.3 yards per carry and 11 receptions for 97 yards, FSU Wire reported. He is the second Seminoles running back lost this season — Samuel Singleton Jr. has not played since the Week 3 game against Alabama. Transfer Quintrevion Wisner (38 carries, 204 yards) and true freshman Amari Thomas are the only other backs to log carries this season, leaving FSU extremely thin at the position.
