Sarina Wiegman extends England contract to Euro 2029
The Football Association has extended Sarina Wiegman's contract as England women's head coach through to the end of UEFA Women's EURO 2029.
The Football Association has announced that Sarina Wiegman has signed a contract extension keeping her as England women’s head coach until the end of UEFA Women’s EURO 2029.
Wiegman, 56, took charge in September 2021 and has delivered the most successful spell in the Lionesses’ history. She led England to their first major women’s trophy at Euro 2022, retained the title in 2025, and reached the 2023 Women’s World Cup final in Australia and New Zealand, where they finished runners-up to Spain. A record five-time winner of The Best FIFA Women’s Coach award, she also guided her native Netherlands to the Euro 2017 title.
“I am so happy to be able to carry on with this squad and cannot think of a better job in football,” Wiegman said in a statement.
Her immediate focus is qualification for the 2027 Women’s World Cup in Brazil. England are yet to qualify and must get past Ukraine in a two-legged playoff, with the ties on 26 November and 5 December.
