Seahawks dominate Chiefs 20-3 on Sunday Night Football

The Seattle Seahawks held Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs to a single field goal in a dominant 20-3 Sunday Night Football win at Lumen Field, with Sam Darnold throwing for 257 yards and Jaxon Smith-Njigba starring.

The Seattle Seahawks dominated the Kansas City Chiefs 20-3 on Sunday Night Football at Lumen Field, holding Patrick Mahomes’ offence to a single field goal in one of the lowest-scoring outputs of the Mahomes era.

Seattle led 10-0 at half-time, added a field goal in the third quarter and sealed the win with Emanuel Wilson’s 21-yard touchdown run in the fourth, after Harrison Butker had missed a 45-yard field goal attempt that would have cut the deficit to seven with 8:33 remaining. (NBC Sports)

Sam Darnold finished 20-of-28 for 257 yards with a touchdown and an interception, while receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba was the star of the Seattle offence. Mahomes finished 19-of-33 for 165 yards with an interception, a 58.3 passer rating, and former Seahawk Kenneth Walker was held to 36 yards on 14 carries on his return to Seattle.

Kansas City managed just 11 first downs and 213 yards, going 3-of-11 on third down, and — as noted by the NBC broadcast — it was the first time the Chiefs did not even reach the red zone in a Mahomes start, including the postseason. Seattle finished with 24 first downs, 410 total yards and 11-of-16 on third down.
