Armstrong’s internet service went down across several US states on Wednesday evening, leaving thousands of customers without broadband and Wi-Fi.

According to Downdetector data cited by the Hindustan Times, outage reports began at around 6:55pm EDT and had topped 6,000 by 7:11pm. Users in New York, Pennsylvania, Kentucky and Ohio reported the most disruption, with most complaints about broadband internet and Wi-Fi.

The outage appeared to run deep: customers reported that Armstrong’s own app and website were unreachable, and support phone lines appeared to be down too. Users in places like Parker and Cranberry Township in Pennsylvania described being cut off entirely, NewsBytes reported.

“Seems the entire network is down. Website won’t work and their phones just give the busy/down tone,” one user wrote, according to the Hindustan Times’ reporting of customer complaints.

Armstrong had not provided an official explanation for the disruption at the time of reporting, with some customers speculating that severe weather may have played a role.

The service was restored on Wednesday evening, the Hindustan Times reported in an update, ending a disruption that affected thousands of households across the four states.
