India Cabinet clears Rs 2.79 lakh crore package — rabi price policy, PM DHARA, Delhi traffic system

The Union Cabinet approved three decisions with a combined outlay of Rs 2,79,157 crore on Wednesday, announced by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw after the meeting, the Economic Times reported.

The largest share, Rs 1,86,405 crore, goes to PM DHARA (Developing Harmonized and Accelerated Renewable Energy Access), which aims to strengthen India’s Intra-State Transmission System to evacuate up to 135 gigawatt of renewable energy across states and union territories. It also provides for 50 gigawatt-hours of battery energy storage to address intermittency and peak-hour demand, with total Central Financial Support of Rs 54,082 crore. The programme is targeted to be set up by FY33.

The Cabinet also approved the Price Policy for Rabi Crops for Rabi Marketing Season 2027-28, with an estimated payout of Rs 90,962 crore to farmers. It covers six crops — wheat, barley, gram, lentil (masoor), rapeseed-mustard and safflower — with new minimum support prices including Rs 2,610 per quintal for wheat and Rs 7,390 per quintal for masoor, reported Business Today.

The third decision allocates Rs 1,790 crore for an Intelligent Traffic Management System in the National Capital Territory of Delhi.
