Jaguar unveils all-electric Type 01 in New York, its first new car since 2024 UK exit
Jaguar has unveiled the all-electric Type 01, a 1,000PS four-door grand tourer and the first production car of its reinvention, at an event in New York on Tuesday night.

Jaguar has unveiled the all-electric Type 01, its first new car since it stopped selling new cars in the UK in November 2024, at an event in New York on Tuesday night (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c6je50ydld31o). The car, the first production model of Jaguar’s reinvention, was revealed at 8pm ET — 1am BST on Wednesday (https://jec.org.uk).
The four-door grand tourer sits on Jaguar’s dedicated Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA) platform and uses a tri-motor setup — one front, two rear — producing more than 1,000PS (986hp) and about 1,300Nm of torque, Jaguar confirmed (https://www.fleetnews.co.uk). A 118kWh usable battery gives a claimed range of up to 450 miles on the WLTP cycle, with 350kW DC rapid charging adding roughly 200 miles in as little as 13 minutes and a 10–80% charge in about 22 minutes (https://www.fleetnews.co.uk).
At around 5.2m long, the car is wider than a UK parking space, according to the Guardian (https://www.theguardian.com). It rides on 23-inch wheels, has no rear window — a digital ClearSight rear-view display sits at the base of the windscreen instead — and its cabin is split by a full-length central spine into four individual spaces (https://moto-match.com).
Jaguar managing director Rawdon Glover called the launch “one of the most significant moments in Jaguar’s 90-plus year history” (https://www.thetimes.com). Jaguar has not confirmed final pricing, though UK reports put it above £120,000–£130,000; orders are expected to open in early 2027, with first deliveries in the second half of 2027 (https://www.independent.co.uk).
The launch follows the unveiling of the Type 00 concept in December 2024 and a controversial rebrand that drew criticism from President Trump, Nigel Farage and Elon Musk (https://www.thetimes.com).
