LG Electronics wins 5GW AI data centre chiller deal with US firm AIR Control Concept
LG Electronics' US subsidiary has signed a long-term agreement with AIR Control Concept to supply chillers for 5 gigawatts of AI data centre capacity; shares jumped more than 6% in early Seoul trading.
LG Electronics said on Monday that its US subsidiary has signed a long-term agreement to supply chillers for artificial intelligence data centres with North American infrastructure platform company AIR Control Concept (https://en.yna.co.kr/view/AEN20261005005500320).
Under the deal, the US unit will gradually supply high-efficiency chillers and other cooling solutions for AI data centre thermal management covering a total capacity of 5 gigawatts — about the capacity of three to four large nuclear power plants, according to ChosunBiz (https://biz.chosun.com/en/en-it/2026/10/05/W4EGPF2OZZCQZFQZVM3UM4ZYLU/). The contract amount and supply period were not disclosed.
Investors welcomed the announcement: LG Electronics shares were up more than 6% in early trading on Tuesday, changing hands at 229,500 won at 9:27 a.m., up 6.25% from the previous session (https://biz.chosun.com/en/en-finance/2026/10/06/2SLCSKQTNBBEDEJ7F3EJUILAFM/).
AIR Control Concept is a specialist that handles the entire AI data centre process across the United States and Canada — from design and construction to procurement and after-sales service — and runs large projects through its data centre subsidiary AMC (AIR Mission Critical) (https://biz.chosun.com/en/en-it/2026/10/05/W4EGPF2OZZCQZFQZVM3UM4ZYLU/).
LG has secured more than 600 billion won (about $446 million) of AI data centre cooling orders in the first half of this year and expects to hit its annual order target of 1 trillion won this year, one year earlier than originally planned (https://en.yna.co.kr/view/AEN20261005005500320). Meritz Securities raised its target price on the stock to 250,000 won from 220,000 won, with analyst Yang Seung-su saying the AI data centre cooling business would show tangible results by building an order backlog of about 3 trillion won within the year (https://biz.chosun.com/en/en-finance/2026/10/06/2SLCSKQTNBBEDEJ7F3EJUILAFM/).
The deal lands as global data centre power demand is expected to rise from 226 gigawatts this year to 334 gigawatts next year, according to market research firm Omdia (https://en.yna.co.kr/view/AEN20261005005500320).
