Smart ring maker Oura postpones Nasdaq IPO despite 'strong demand' as autumn listing market falters

Oura has postponed its Nasdaq listing, blaming uncertainty in the IPO market, despite strong investor demand, growing profits and 5.7 million paid members.

Smart ring maker Oura has postponed its planned Nasdaq flotation, blaming “uncertainty in the IPO market”, despite what it says was strong investor demand for the listing.

The San Francisco-based company announced on Tuesday that it was delaying its previously announced initial public offering. It had been marketing a share sale of 50 million shares at an indicated range of $40 to $44 apiece, targeting up to $2.2bn, according to Reuters. The Times reported it had been seeking a valuation of around $15bn.

Chief executive Tom Hale said in a statement: “Our mission is to empower people to live healthier, longer, and an IPO is just one step in our journey. We aim to deliver an extraordinary IPO for our employees and investors and we have the luxury of choosing our moment.”

The delay adds to a shaky start for the traditionally strong autumn IPO season, with investors rattled by rising interest rates, geopolitical turmoil and volatility in AI stocks. The Wall Street Journal reported that Holtec Nuclear and Bamboo Insurance have also delayed listings in recent days, and named the planned Anthropic mega-offering as the next big test for the market.

Oura, founded in Finland in 2013, made its IPO paperwork public earlier this month. For the nine months ended 30 June it posted revenue of $1.21bn, up 74 per cent year on year, and said it had recently turned profitable, earning $60.8m. The company said a strong response to its Oura Ring 5 had lifted paid members to 5.7 million, and that it expected full-year revenue in 2026 to grow 90 per cent.
