SpaceX in talks to raise $40bn to buy Nvidia AI chips
SpaceX is in early-stage talks to raise about US$40 billion in debt to buy Nvidia chips, with Apollo Global Management leading the financing, the Financial Times reported.

SpaceX is in talks with banks and investors to raise about US$40 billion in debt to buy chips from Nvidia, the Financial Times reported on Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter. The fundraising discussions are in an early stage and could still end without a deal being completed.
Apollo Global Management is leading the financing effort, according to the report, which said the company was seeking roughly US$10 billion in bank loans and US$30 billion in investment-grade debt to pay for the chips. Bond fund Pimco is among the investment managers looking at the deal, and the transaction is expected to close in 2027 if it goes ahead.
The proposed financing underscores the enormous capital requirements of the AI boom, as technology companies race to secure advanced processors and build the computing infrastructure needed for artificial intelligence development.
SpaceX, Apollo, Nvidia and Pimco did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The report rests on unnamed sources and has not been confirmed by either company.
