Tesla beats Q3 estimates with 486,532 deliveries as Europe demand recovers
Tesla delivered 486,532 vehicles in the third quarter of 2026, beating Wall Street consensus of around 462,000, as a European demand rebound offset weaker US and Chinese sales; shares rose in early trading.
Tesla beat Wall Street expectations for third-quarter deliveries on Friday, reporting 486,532 vehicles delivered in the July–September period.
The figure topped the Tesla-compiled analyst consensus of 461,974 deliveries, according to Electrek, and came in well above the Visible Alpha estimate of 456,896 reported by Reuters. Model 3 and Model Y accounted for 478,237 of the deliveries, with 8,295 from other models, and Tesla built 464,391 vehicles in the quarter.
The result marks a recovery for Tesla’s European business after last year’s slump: EU registrations rose by about two-thirds through August, and in France the Model Y became the best-selling car of any type — the first time a Tesla has topped that ranking, Reuters reported. Tesla’s Shanghai exports nearly doubled in July and August.
Deliveries were down 2.1% year on year from the record 497,099 in Q3 2025, when US buyers rushed to claim the expiring $7,500 federal tax credit. Tesla now needs at least 311,448 deliveries in the fourth quarter to avoid a third straight annual decline, Reuters noted.
Shares rose in early trading Friday, Investor’s Business Daily reporting the stock up around 5%.
Rival Rivian also posted record third-quarter deliveries of 19,248 vehicles, up 46% year on year on the back of its new R2 SUV, according to CNBC.
