Karachi court issues non-bailable arrest warrants for Dania Shah in Aamir Liaquat video case
A Karachi judicial magistrate has issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Dania Shah after rejecting her exemption plea, ordering police to produce her before the court on 28 October in the Aamir Liaquat video-circulation case.
A judicial magistrate court in Karachi’s East district on Monday issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Dania Shah in the case concerning the alleged circulation of indecent videos of the late television host Dr Aamir Liaquat Hussain. The court directed police to arrest Shah and produce her before the court at the next hearing, according to reports from Bloom Pakistan, ProPakistani, Dialogue Pakistan and Daily The Destination.
During the proceedings, Shah’s counsel applied for exemption from personal appearance on the grounds of illness, her lawyer telling the court she could not attend. The complainant’s counsel opposed the application, and the court rejected the exemption plea, expressing displeasure at her absence.
The case stems from a complaint filed by Aamir Liaquat’s daughter under Pakistan’s cybercrime laws, the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA), accusing Shah of involvement in circulating her late father’s private videos. The court adjourned the proceedings until 28 October 2026. No final verdict has been given, and the matter remains under judicial proceedings.
