Ric Flair hospitalised after Tampa fall hours after revealing blood clot
Ric Flair, 77, was rushed to hospital on Friday after falling outside a Tampa restaurant and injuring his face, hours after revealing he is dealing with a blood clot in his leg.
Wrestling legend Ric Flair was hospitalised on Friday after falling outside a restaurant in Tampa, Florida, TMZ reported. The 77-year-old 16-time WWE champion got up from the bar at Wagamama, left his phone and drink behind, and crossed the street when he suddenly fell and injured his face, cutting his head and eye and bleeding extensively. TMZ reported a possible concussion; paramedics were photographed treating him at the scene before he was taken to hospital by ambulance.
The incident happened just hours after Flair took to X and Instagram to apologise for cancelling his scheduled appearance at the Washington State Horror Con in Seattle (Puyallup) on October 24 and 25. “Unfortunately, I am dealing with a blood clot in my leg, and my doctors have limited my travel to 3–4 hours,” he wrote. “Seattle falls outside that range.”
Flair warned fans that blood clots “are extremely serious and can be life-threatening”, citing Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts’ recent experience with the condition, and said he is scheduled to have a procedure to strip the affected vein.
His daughter Charlotte Flair later posted on X to reassure fans, writing: “(ps: he’s going to be ok).”
