JD Vance backs eliminating H-1B visa programme entirely
Vice President JD Vance told commentator Jack Posobiec aboard Air Force Two that the H-1B programme is "completely broken" and he would support eliminating it outright.
US Vice President JD Vance has said he would support eliminating the H-1B visa programme entirely, calling it “completely broken” and accusing employers of “defrauding” American workers.
Vance made the remarks on Thursday (October 1) to right-wing commentator Jack Posobiec aboard Air Force Two, in an interview broadcast by Real America’s Voice. “My view is, the H-1B program is completely broken, and I’d be very supportive of just eliminating it,” he told Posobiec. “But while we have it, what we have to do is protect American workers.”
“My belief on this is that the H-1B program has been totally taken advantage of, not just by technology companies, by accounting firms, by people who are basically defrauding the American worker,” the vice president added, Firstpost reported.
Vance also defended the administration’s record, explaining that the $100,000 application fee introduced last year came from conversations between him, President Donald Trump and senior adviser Stephen Miller after they concluded Congress would not reform the programme. “If you’re just trying to replace an American accountant with a cheaper foreign accountant, then you’re not going to pay $100,000,” he said.
The interview was endorsed by Donald Trump Jr., who re-shared it on X, writing: “Couldn’t agree more with this, and the only people who disagree are the open border lovers who want cheap labour.”
Vance’s comments came as the administration’s $100,000 fee suffered a second court defeat, with a federal judge blocking its implementation on Thursday, Times Now reported.
