Stafford becomes Rams' all-time passing touchdown leader with 155th, a first for two franchises
Matthew Stafford's 155th touchdown pass as a Ram, an 11-yard strike to Puka Nacua against the Raiders, passed Roman Gabriel's franchise record and made him the first quarterback to lead two clubs in passing touchdowns.
Matthew Stafford became the Los Angeles Rams’ all-time leader in passing touchdowns on Sunday, throwing his 155th touchdown pass as a Ram in the second quarter against the Las Vegas Raiders in Las Vegas, the Los Angeles Rams report.
The record-breaker was an 11-yard pass to wide receiver Puka Nacua. It moved Stafford past Rams legend Roman Gabriel, who had held the franchise record with 154 passing touchdowns from 1962 to 1972. Stafford reached 155 in 81 games as a Ram, against Gabriel’s 130, according to the club.
Stafford is also the Detroit Lions’ franchise leader with 282 touchdown passes in 165 games, making him the first quarterback in NFL history to hold the career passing-touchdown record for two of the league’s current 32 franchises, NBC Sports reports.
He had entered Sunday needing three touchdown passes to pass Gabriel, and threw all three in the first half: a three-yard pass to tight end Davis Allen, a five-yard pass to Allen again, and then the 11-yard strike to Nacua.
