Texas star left tackle Trevor Goosby out for season with knee injury, ESPN reports

Texas left tackle Trevor Goosby will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury suffered against Ole Miss, ESPN's Pete Thamel reported on Sunday, a major blow for the Longhorns' offensive line and a projected first-round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft.

Texas will be without star left tackle Trevor Goosby for the rest of the season after he suffered a knee injury against Ole Miss, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported on Sunday.

Goosby was carted off the field during the first quarter of Texas’s 34-27 win over the Rebels on Saturday and did not return to the game. He was later seen back on the sideline on crutches, according to On3’s report of Thamel’s news.

The injury happened with five minutes left in the first quarter, USA Today reported, after quarterback Arch Manning completed a pass to Derrek Cooper. Goosby went down on the turf in noticeable pain and was tended to by medical personnel before the cart took him from the field.

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian said after the game that Goosby’s injury did not look very good, On3 reported, and he did not know the specifics at that stage.

The loss is a significant one for the Longhorns. Goosby, a senior, is one of the top offensive tackle prospects for the 2027 NFL Draft: USA Today’s latest mock draft projected him at No. 11 overall to the Houston Texans, while ESPN’s Field Yates had him at No. 8 in an early mock draft released on 21 October.

The timing is poor for Texas, which is already without its top defensive player, edge rusher Colin Simmons, after he suffered an ankle injury against Florida. Texas next hosts Mississippi State on Saturday.
