Three people were killed and eight wounded in an Israeli strike targeting the Islamic University in Gaza City on Sunday, according to medical officials in the Strip (The Times of Israel).
Shifa Hospital in Gaza City said it received three bodies and treated eight people wounded in the strike. Two sources at the Islamic University said those killed were administrative staff and the injured were students. Palestinian media identified the dead as Ashraf Dahlan, Shadi Abu Ataya and Sami Baroud.
The Israeli military told The Times of Israel that the strike targeted terror operatives, and that further details would be provided later.
Al Jazeera reported that the strike was the second attack on the institution within a few hours, after an earlier drone strike on the campus injured seven female students, one of them seriously. Gaza’s Education Ministry condemned the attack, saying students had been attending classes when the strike occurred, and that 95 percent of buildings belonging to academic institutions had been damaged during the war (TRT World).
