Kaylia Nemour wins beam gold on tiebreak at World Championships in Rotterdam

Algeria’s Kaylia Nemour won the women’s balance beam title at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Rotterdam on Sunday, edging defending champion Zhang Qingying of China on an execution tiebreak after both gymnasts scored 14.566 (International Gymnast).

Nemour’s execution score of 8.266 beat Zhang’s 8.066, giving her the title after the two tied on total score, according to the live results reported by USA Today and Gymnastics Now (USA Today; Gymnastics Now).

It is Nemour’s first World beam gold medal, after she finished second to Zhang on the apparatus last year in Jakarta, International Gymnast reported. The beam title adds to the uneven bars title she had already won at these championships.

Brazil’s Flavia Saraiva took the bronze medal with 14.300, her first World medal on beam, while France’s Elena Colas finished fourth on 14.100 and Italy’s Manila Esposito was fifth on 14.066.
