Israeli airstrike kills two in Jabalia as Gaza ceasefire violations tally hits 129, rights group says
Two Palestinians were killed and others wounded in an Israeli airstrike on eastern Jabalia on Sunday, as a Gaza rights group said it had documented 129 Israeli violations since the ceasefire took effect.
Two Palestinians were killed and others injured on Sunday as a result of an Israeli airstrike that targeted the eastern area of Jabalia, in the northern Gaza Strip, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported from Gaza, citing local sources.
Medical teams transported the injured to hospital, QNA said. The report added that the Israeli army also targeted Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip with several airstrikes, while Israeli military vehicles opened fire on the town of Abasan al-Kabira, east of Khan Younis.
QNA reported that the Rafah border crossing with Egypt remains blocked, though it was supposed to reopen following the ceasefire agreement.
The Gaza Center for Human Rights, cited by QNA, said it had documented 129 incidents of shelling and shooting since the ceasefire agreement took effect, with 34 people killed and 122 injured. Those figures are the centre’s documented tally as reported by QNA; Flip News has not independently verified them.
The ceasefire between Hamas and Israel took effect last week, the first phase of an initiative brokered by US President Donald Trump, following the Israeli army’s withdrawal from populated areas of the Strip.
The Sunday strikes follow drone attacks in Gaza on Saturday that medical workers said killed at least six people, as reported by Al Jazeera on October 17–18 — the latest in a series of reported violations of the truce.
