A Russian drone attack on a park in a village in Ukraine’s northeastern Kharkiv region killed six people, including three children, on Monday, according to Ukrainian officials.

Kharkiv regional governor Oleh Syniehubov said the drone struck a park in the settlement of Nova Vodolaha, southwest of the city of Kharkiv, at around 16:30 local time, Reuters reported. He had earlier said 15 people were injured in the attack.

Ukraine’s Interior Minister Ivan Vyhivskyi said the drone hit the park at the moment it was full of families playing with their children. UATV, citing the Interior Ministry and the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, reported that 15 people were injured, including seven minors, and that a café building in the park was damaged. Vyhivskyi said the attack was carried out with a Geran-3-type drone.

“Yet another Russian strike on civilians. An attack on children that had no military sense whatsoever,” Vyhivskyi said.

Emergency and law-enforcement services are working at the scene, and medical teams are transporting the injured to hospitals in Kharkiv, according to the regional military administration.
