Russian overnight strike on Kyiv kills woman, hits subway station, mayor says

A Russian air strike overnight killed a woman in Kyiv and damaged a subway station on the capital's left bank along with a 25-storey residential building, Mayor Vitali Klitschko said on Monday.

A Russian air strike killed a woman in Ukraine’s Kyiv overnight while also hitting a subway station on the left bank of the capital and damaging a 25-storey residential building, Mayor Vitali Klitschko said on Telegram on Monday.

The attack, which also saw non-residential buildings and a medical facility hit, injured three other people in Kyiv, Klitschko said. A Reuters witness heard explosions in the city.

The strike came as President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that the United States had resumed sharing critical intelligence to help Ukraine defend against Russian missile strikes after a brief pause — a development Flip News covered on Sunday. Zelenskyy spoke with US peace envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner after the two visited Kyiv earlier this month, as the US administration tries to mediate a deal to end the war.

Russia has repeatedly struck Kyiv’s civilian infrastructure in recent weeks. There was no immediate comment from Moscow on the overnight attack.
