NAB scrutinises assets and projects linked to former KP ministers

Pakistan's National Accountability Bureau has launched a scrutiny of assets held by former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa ministers and of development projects awarded during the PTI government's tenure, seeking records from multiple provincial departments.

Pakistan’s National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has launched a scrutiny of assets owned by former ministers and government officials in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, along with development projects and contracts awarded during the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government’s tenure, amid allegations of irregularities.

According to NAB sources cited by The News, the bureau has obtained records of assets belonging to a former chief minister and two former ministers. The Express Tribune names them as former chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur and former ministers Fazal Hakim and Dr Amjad.

The bureau is also collecting details of development projects and contracts awarded during the tenure of Chief Minister Sohail Afridi. The Communication and Works Department has reportedly been asked to provide details of roads constructed during Afridi’s tenure, including ongoing and completed projects, the number of contracts awarded and the contractors who secured them.

Notices have also been issued to the Revenue Department, the registrar of the Defence Housing Authority, the Peshawar Development Authority and other departments to obtain information about the assets and properties of former government officials, the reports say.

NAB will review the available property and asset records before deciding whether to summon the political leaders concerned for questioning, according to the sources. No findings have been announced, and no charges are reported at this stage.

The watchdog is also examining allegations of illegal recruitment and corruption involving officials during the PTI government’s tenure, with relevant records being collected for scrutiny.
