Yuri Yoshida wins BMW Ladies Championship for first LPGA title

Japan’s Yuri Yoshida won the BMW Ladies Championship in South Korea on Sunday for her first LPGA Tour victory, holding off Ryu Hae-ran and Choi Hye-jin by one stroke at Pine Beach Golf Links in Haenam.

Yoshida, 26, finished with a four-round total of 17-under 271 after a closing four-under 68, while Ryu and Choi tied for second at 16-under 272.

Yoshida began the final round four shots off the pace but lit up the front nine with an eagle at the par-5 second, followed by three consecutive birdies from the fifth, to reach the turn in five-under 31 and take the outright lead.

A birdie at the 17th gave her the buffer she needed after a bogey at the 15th, and although she also bogeyed the 18th, her one-shot advantage survived. Ryu, who led by four strokes going into the final round, shot a 73 after a bogey at the 16th and a missed par putt at the 18th.

Choi, chasing a first LPGA title in her 125th career start, had a birdie putt on the 18th lip out for par, leaving her one stroke short.

It was Yoshida’s first LPGA Tour win in her 66th start since joining the tour in 2024. She had previously won four times on the LPGA of Japan Tour. The victory was worth $352,500.
