Zelenskyy submits bills to extend martial law and mobilisation for another 90 days

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy submitted draft laws to the Verkhovna Rada on Monday to extend martial law and general mobilisation for a further 90 days from 31 October, the 21st such extension since Russia's full-scale invasion.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy submitted draft laws to the Verkhovna Rada on Monday to extend martial law and general mobilisation in Ukraine for a further 90 days, according to the parliament’s website.

The bills, registered as No. 16182 and No. 16183, were referred to the relevant parliamentary committee for consideration, Censor.NET reported, citing the Rada’s website. Interfax-Ukraine reported that the extension would run for 90 days starting from 31 October. Mezha, also citing the Rada’s records, reported that the measures would consequently run until 29 January 2027.

Martial law and general mobilisation are currently in force until 31 October, LB.ua reported. The previous extension was voted on 14 July, and the measures have been in force since 2 August under that decision, according to Mezha.

If approved, this would be the 21st extension of martial law and general mobilisation since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, LB.ua reported. Censor.NET noted that the previous extension was the 20th such decision.

Members of parliament will be able to vote on the bills as early as this week, as it is a plenary week, LB.ua reported. The bills have not yet been voted on; Monday’s development is the submission and registration of the draft laws, not their approval.
