Three killed, including a seven-year-old girl, in strike on Gaza displaced-persons camp
Three Palestinians, including a seven-year-old girl, were killed on Monday in a strike on a camp for displaced people in al-Mawasi, west of Khan Yunis, Gaza's civil defence and Nasser Hospital said, with 11 people killed across Gaza in the past 24 hours.
Three Palestinians, including a seven-year-old girl, were killed on Monday in a strike on a camp for displaced people in the al-Mawasi area, west of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip, Gaza’s civil defence and Nasser Hospital said.
Civil defence spokesman Mahmoud Bassal told AFP that three people, including a child, were killed in the strike on the camp, and that 11 people had been killed and 50 wounded by Israeli fire and airstrikes across Gaza over the past 24 hours. Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis confirmed the three deaths and named them as Hossam Al-Zamli, Tamer Abu Sneima and Jouri Al-Soufi; Gaza’s education ministry gave the girl’s age as seven. The hospital said several wounded people, including a child and a woman, were also treated.
The Times of Israel reported that Hamas-affiliated media in Gaza reported the same strike in al-Mawasi, and noted that it could not independently verify the reports and that the Israeli military had yet to comment. Israel’s military told AFP it was looking into reports of the strike.
A security source in Gaza told AFP that several tanks and military vehicles, accompanied by a bulldozer, advanced on Monday morning into the area west of the Yellow Line in the eastern part of Deir al-Balah, in central Gaza, coinciding with heavy gunfire towards the eastern and northern areas of Deir al-Balah, where hundreds of displaced families live.
The Yellow Line was established after a US-brokered ceasefire took hold in Gaza in October 2025, dividing areas under Israeli control — more than 60 percent of the territory — from those under Hamas control. Gaza’s health ministry says more than 1,500 people have been killed in Gaza since the ceasefire began.
