Serbia's election commission puts Student List on 52.54% in near-final count
Serbia's Republic Electoral Commission has put the Student List on 52.54% of the vote with 8,077 of 8,392 polling stations processed, ahead of Aleksandar Vucic's United Serbia list on 39.29%, in the first near-final official count since Sunday's snap election.
Serbia’s Republic Electoral Commission (RIK) has put the Student List on 52.54 per cent of the vote in the first near-final official count from Sunday’s snap parliamentary election, with 8,077 of the country’s 8,392 polling stations processed.
The Student List took 2,211,400 votes, while the “Aleksandar Vucic – United Serbia” list took 1,653,868 votes, or 39.29 per cent, according to the commission’s figures reported by Telegraf and Tanjug. (Telegraf)
The “Ivica Dacic – Stability Factor” list won 91,673 votes, or 2.18 per cent, and every other list took less than one per cent, the same figures show. Turnout stood at 4,211,957 voters, or 68.78 per cent, with 1.29 per cent of ballots invalid, according to a second report of the commission’s announcement carried by Vijesti and N1. (Vijesti)
The count is not yet the final certified result: 315 polling stations remained unprocessed at the time of the announcement. The figures nevertheless confirm the shape of the result conceded on election night by long-time leader Aleksandar Vucic, who said the Student List had won while final results were still outstanding.
The snap election followed almost two years of student-led protests, and Vucic resigned as president to lead the United Serbia list into the contest for the 250-seat National Assembly.
