Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says US intelligence sharing on Russian missile attacks “works now” after talks in Oslo with Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff.
“We are thankful that intelligence works now, and I’m speaking about early warning, which is very important for our people, for children, adults, civilians, because we can hear when ballistic is coming,” Zelenskyy said at a press conference. “So we are thankful to American side now that it works,” the South China Morning Post reported.
The talks followed Kyiv’s complaint that it had received no or belated warnings of recent Russian missile attacks. Zelenskyy said he had raised the issue with Marco Rubio earlier. Rubio denied Washington was withholding assistance: “Nothing has changed,” he said, adding there had been “no deliberate political directive” to harm Ukraine.
Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and Finnish President Alexander Stubb joined Zelenskyy in Oslo; Støre stressed Europe “needs to be at the table” in any talks on ending the war. Jared Kushner joined by video after falling ill with flu, the Kyiv Post reported, and Witkoff will carry the Oslo proposals to St Petersburg, Støre said.
Zelenskyy said he also hoped for “a good result” on Starlink access after reported speed restrictions, and repeated Ukraine was “ready for negotiations”. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Moscow hoped the envoys could meet Putin soon, perhaps as early as Wednesday. Russia unleashed a fresh missile and drone blitz on Ukraine that killed at least nine people, officials said.
