Alison Hammond falls ill live on This Morning, updates fans from hospital bed

This Morning presenter Alison Hammond, 51, was taken to hospital after clutching her chest and running off air during Friday's live broadcast, then told fans from her hospital bed she was 'fine' and having her heart checked.

This Morning presenter Alison Hammond was taken to hospital after falling ill during Friday’s live broadcast, later telling fans from her hospital bed that she was fine and having her heart checked.

Hammond, 51, was presenting Friday’s episode alongside co-host Dermot O’Leary when she appeared to clutch her chest and run off set. A yelping sound was heard as O’Leary accompanied her, and she did not return for the rest of the programme; the show cut to an ad break after her exit.

Hours later, on Friday evening, Hammond posted a video to her Instagram account from a hospital bed. “Hello my lovelies, I know you’re all worried about me,” she said. “Honestly I am fine first of all. I’m getting my old ticker checked out. I had a little bit of a palpitation, and now I’m getting it all checked out but I think I’m okay.”

She added: “I’m hoping it’s just a little panic attack or something like that,” and apologised for leaving the show: “I would never normally do that, I would never normally leave a TV show, so you know I wasn’t very well.”

The presenter, who appeared in good spirits in the video, said the doctors were “so lovely” and were checking her over. She told fans: “Hopefully I’m going to be alright… hopefully everything is going to be fine.”

The incident was reported by The Sun, The Scottish Sun, Entertainment Daily and TV Guide, all citing Hammond’s own Instagram video. There has been no further official statement from ITV.
