Carrot Top cancels more Luxor shows as rep says comedian is awake and 'continuing to improve'
MGM Resorts has pulled Carrot Top's Luxor shows from Wednesday through Saturday while the comedian remains in hospital, as his representative says he is now awake and breathing on his own.
Carrot Top has cancelled more of his long-running Las Vegas residency, with MGM Resorts International pulling his Luxor shows from Wednesday through Saturday as the comedian remains in hospital following his admission on Friday.
The earliest show still on sale is now September 28, though the production’s long-term status remains unspecified, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported on September 21. Scott Thompson, 61, who performs as Carrot Top, has headlined the Luxor’s Atrium Showroom since November 2005.
His representative Jami Schlicher said in a statement on Sunday: “Scott remains hospitalized and under close medical care. He is now awake, breathing on his own and continuing to improve, surrounded by his family and those closest to him.” She added that the comedian has been reading messages from fans and that his family “remain deeply grateful” and ask that his privacy be respected.
Luxor said in a statement that “Scott is a beloved member of the Luxor and MGM Resorts family, and we are relieved to hear that he is recovering.”
The weekend and Monday shows had already been cancelled following his hospitalisation, which Flip News reported on September 19.
