Chet Hanks confronted comedian Eric André at ComplexCon in Los Angeles over the weekend, reigniting a public feud that began with Hanks’ 2023 appearance on The Eric Andre Show.
Hanks posted footage of the encounter on Instagram. The video shows him approaching André from behind at the convention and placing a hand on his shoulder, according to TMZ, which obtained the clip. André initially appeared cordial — holding out a hand and asking “What’s up?” — but did not get the handshake returned, and the exchange turned heated. Consequence reported that André could be heard asking “What are you talking about?” as security moved between the two men and walked the comedian away, while André directed a parting remark at Hanks’ father.
Hanks later wrote on Instagram that André had “NO MEMORY WHATSOEVER” of criticising him to the media, and claimed the comedian admitted his real issue was Hanks’ use of a Jamaican accent years earlier, which he viewed as mocking Caribbean culture. Hanks also mocked André for travelling with four security guards.
The bad blood dates to 2023, when André told Rolling Stone that Hanks behaved “dangerously” on set — including riding a motorcycle around the studio — and called him “emotionally disturbed.” Hanks responded at the time that he was simply matching the show’s chaotic energy and had “outshined” the host.
André’s representative did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
