Isaiah Washington reveals wife Jenisa died of massive stroke last year
Isaiah Washington, 63, has revealed in an Instagram post that his wife of 29 years, Jenisa Washington, died of a massive hemorrhagic stroke in June 2025.
Grey’s Anatomy star Isaiah Washington, 63, has broken his silence on the death of his wife of 29 years, Jenisa Washington, revealing in an Instagram post on Saturday 3 October 2026 that she died 16 months ago after a massive haemorrhagic stroke.
“Yes…the rumors are true. My dear wife of 29 years collapsed suddenly on May 31, 2025 and passed away on June 9, 2025,” Washington wrote. “It came as a huge shock to me and our entire family. She succumbed to a massive hemorrhagic stroke and never recovered,” he said, as quoted by USA Today (source).
Washington used the announcement to urge people to take severe headaches seriously: “Listen, y’all…some headaches are not just headaches or migraines, they can be much worse and a warning sign. Get a brain scan if you can and take those headaches seriously.”
He said Jenisa left behind three “incredibly amazing children” who would continue her legacy, and admitted he was unsure about making the post because she was “extremely private,” joking she would have to “reprimand” him “from her on the other side.”
