Jack Antonoff told a Bleachers concert crowd to 'read the news' after a fan requested the wedding song he wrote for his marriage to Margaret Qualley — his first public acknowledgement of the split.
Jack Antonoff has broken his silence on the end of his marriage to Margaret Qualley — with a laugh and a one-liner.
The Bleachers frontman was playing the Troubadour in Los Angeles on Tuesday when a fan requested “Let’s Get Married,” noting it had been his wedding song at his 2023 nuptials to the actress, Page Six reported.
“Absolutely not,” Antonoff laughed. “Read the news, brother.”
The crowd erupted in laughter, and Antonoff added that he “love[s] that song” — noting he wrote it 11 years ago, long before the wedding. Fans online treated the moment as his first real acknowledgement of the split, with one commenting it was “the first actual confirmation of the divorce.”
It comes two months after Page Six confirmed in July that the former couple had separated after less than three years of marriage. A source told People at the time that the marriage was “rocky” and that “they argue a lot,” adding: “Between her career and him constantly being on the road or working late in the studio, it’s been difficult.”
Break-up rumours began when Qualley, 31, failed to attend Taylor Swift’s July wedding to Travis Kelce alongside Antonoff, 42 — who went with his sister, Rachel. Since then, Qualley has changed her Instagram handle from @isimostar, a reference to Antonoff’s track “Isimo,” and removed photos from their wedding from her account.
The pair were last seen together in public at the Grammy Awards on February 1. A representative for Qualley did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment on Wednesday afternoon.
