Jay-Z has reportedly selected himself to headline the Super Bowl LXI halftime show on 14 February 2027 at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, Puck News reports, citing multiple sources.
According to Puck’s Dave Brooks, the Roc Nation founder — who holds the final say on halftime bookings — chose his own name after Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber were also considered, while Just Jared adds Harry Styles to the shortlist. Representatives for the NFL and Roc Nation did not respond to Puck’s request for comment, so the booking remains unconfirmed.
The reported move would complete a circle that began in 2019, when Roc Nation partnered with the NFL to curate and produce the halftime show under an arrangement Puck values at $5 million a year, extended for another five years in 2024. The partnership has since guided shows including Kendrick Lamar in 2025 and Bad Bunny in 2026.
The timing fits a milestone year for the 56-year-old rapper: his 1996 debut Reasonable Doubt turns 30 and The Blueprint turns 25, both marked with a stadium run Puck says grossed more than $42 million across three sold-out Yankee Stadium nights in July.
Fans and entertainment outlets have speculated about a possible Beyoncé appearance, but — like everything else in the report — it remains unconfirmed. Puck suggests an announcement could come as early as this weekend, when Jay-Z plays the first of two nearly sold-out nights at SoFi Stadium, the same venue that will host Super Bowl LXI.
